So anyways ... a while ago, inspired by another bandster, I decided to give online dating another go. I have never had much luck with the whole online thing. Generally the men I have met are all after one thing but I met a nice guy a while ago. He was short and spent our brief meeting picking at a scab on his elbow (gag) so I politely said it was nice meeting him but I wasn't interested. He wasn't either. Fair play. For the last week, I have been chatting to a very lovely guy (A) who is kind and funny and hasn't done the whole begging to see more explicit photos thing. (I don't do that. There are many who ask!) Tonight I said I looked like hell after work, so he asked for a photo ... after much laughing and joking, I sent him 3. First a nice one from last week for comparison, tonight when I got in and finally heading out to Zumba. He said I looked hot and there was more joking that was how I looked after Zumba but he sent a photo back and ... he has a ring through his nose, like a bull. I'm a little freaked out. I hate to admit it but I am rather straight laced, tattoos and piercings don't really do it for me. I was prepared for the big hole in his ear piercing and the tattoos. I am regularly telling myself not to be so shallow and judge him on his personality ... but he has a ring through his nose ... like a bull!!!!!! I am meant to meet him tomorrow night. I need to not be freaked out by then. Help, I need perspective.
In other news, new job is going well but loads to do! I can't wait for the boring meetings to end and the kids to start!!!

When I met my husband I would have never dated someone with a bunch of tattoos. We were set up on a blind date. I had no idea he had numerous tattoos...and still didn't know after I met him since they could all be covered with clothing. 21 years later I am glad that I didn't know about his tattoos when I first met him...otherwise I probably wouldn't have given him any kind of chance. I say go out with him and give him a chance...nosering and all.
Oh gosh, I've been online dating - it's a riot. And exhausting. Come over to my blog, I'm recapping all my dates. Oy. :) Good luck!

Does he have a job? Does he have similar faith beliefs? Does he have similar moral beliefs? Does he love his family?
If all of those match up pretty close to you, then go for it! It might be a phase! Besides, it's just a date. :) Nose rings come out.
As long as it doesn't cause a scab that he picks...
(sorry, you just created such a lovely visual with Mr. Elbow...)
I'm with everyone else. You liked him before the ring pic, give it a date. If you like him more, either he can take it out, or you might find you get over it. It's such an "easy" thing, compared to a character issue, or even a physical issue that is NOT removable, lol. :-) But of course you are not shallow. Attraction is attraction. But I know I've had guys I thought were super hot I fell out of attraction to after I spoke to them, or guys I did not think were hot who I became attracted to, after spending time with them....so who knows!
I'm glad you are dating. :-)
You're adorable! I think you should give him a shot since you've enjoyed talking with him already. You never know :) I have a brother who is scary looking, tats, piercings etc, but he's the sweetest person. Biggest heart ever. Looks can be very deceiving.
Watch this video, it's amazing.. about judging a book by it's cover.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9mIBKifOOQQ
Hugs!!
I'm thinking...check him out.
And then...look for any red flags and don't ignore them. lol
And don't settle. If something bothers you about him now, it will only fester!(might be speaking from experience! lol)

Hmm... other bandster who inspired you to try online dating... wonder who that could be? ;)
Go out with him - have some fun! Rip the nose ring out, if you must. He seems nice, right?
I'm gonna say something horrible: get a free meal out of him at least! ;)
Rambo is covered in tattoos and would probably pierce his face all up if he wasn't a prison guard. I like him that way - he's unique. It takes balls of steel to walk around pierced and tattooed and not give a damn what anyone thinks. He probably has confidence which is always sexy in a man.
Piercings you can remove when your too old for them to be cool anymore. A face tattoo of a snake - not so much. I married a total nerd and used to date tattooed and pierced guys - trust me you cant judge a book by its nose ring...go out - have fun - hopefully he's awesome and has a great bum!
ohmygosh. I'm soooo laughing at the bull comment (both!). I've done the online thing (that's how I met Mr. X, which lasted 5 months). The worst date I went on --- ok, picture a complete dweeb (minus the pocket protector). The whole time during dinner, he discussed how his teeth were falling out and he'd need dentures soon. He's in his 30's. He then went on to say that he has all kinds of oral problems because his dad was exposed to Agent Orange (I'd never heard of it). Horrible. I'll never do a dinner date again. I was trapped!! It is scary to put yourself out there, but you've gotta try :)
Hey, there is no shame in saying that you're not attracted to someone because they remind you of a bull. I couldn't date a nose-ringer either.
Keep an open mind. Just before I met Hubby he had long hair and a goatee down to his chest along with a giant tattoo on his arm (that..he still has). If I had met him then, I wouldn't have dated him and I would've missed out on my perfect match. One thing I've learned about men is that you can tweak their style, but not the essence of who they are. Have fun!
I had my tongue pierced and when hubby and I were dating he told me he hated it...he also told me he hated my tattoo. I gave up the pierced tongue but kept the tattoo..see hubby is very straight laced no tattoos or piercings but I still love him!
Keep an open mind. I had purple hair, a nose... eyebrow.. & tongue ring when I met my hubby. LOL. Thank gawd it didn't scare hip off. Maybe he won't even wear it on your date. I change my lip ring out all the time depending on the occasion. (wear a smallll stud when at work)
